PURPOSE: To introduce basic techniques on, Tanning and to provide basic skills on Leather Garments in Cutting and Stitching.

DURATION: 06 Months (06 Days a week)

SYLLABUS (THEORY):

Introduction to different characteristics of Textile Leather Garments, stages of preparation of Leather Garments, Production Process, Garments Cutting, Quality Control and Measures to enhance worth of the garments.

Types of material used, knowledge about tools required during production, Processes of production, Colours matching and required average, Knowledge about raw material required during manufacturing like Zip, Button, Rexene, Card Board, Lining, Interlining and General idea of prevailing prices of different items.

Pattern Designing, Material of Pattern and Engineering Designing.

Leather Cutting, Cutting knife handling, Card Cutting, Die Cutting, Cutting exercises by straight and curved knife, Use of scissor, Cutting direction and manipulation, Correct techniques of Cutting, Textile Garments Cutting and minimization in the wastage,

Fusing

Definition of Stitching, Process Of Stitching, Kinds of Stitching, Hand Stitching, Leather Stitching, and Practice on stitching exercises, Uses of Stitching machine, Types of Needle, Threading and Types of threads.

Costing and calculation, Combination of colours and matching sewing machine control, Oiling, Stitching machine care, Embroidery, Finishing, Polishing, Ironing, Quality checking and Packaging

Names of machines required, Parts of Sewing machine, General familiarization about operational techniques of machines, machine maintenance.

SYLLABUS (PRACTICAL)

CUTTING
Selection for Leather cutting, Hand cutting with knife and scissor, Correct techniques of cutting, Cutting of lining with automatic machine and How to minimize wastage. SATRA Cutting Card experience with curd and straight Knife.

FUSING

Use of Fusing and interlining in various parts of to give strength to its loose parts.

STITCHING

Handling of Stitching machine, Threading and oiling of machine, Stitching length adjustment, Speed production, Practice of different types and styles of Stitching, Types of Threads, SATRA stitching Cards experience (with and without thread)


PATTERN & DESIGN

Information about Models and Patterns, Pattern making, Placement of Patterns, How to create a design? Creation of new Design and Fashion.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS

Different types of pockets, Collar, Cuff, Button hole, Attachment of Zip and elasticated belt. Joining of fingers, thumbs and lining etc.

MANUFACTURING PRACTICE

Manufacturing of different types of Gloves/Garments as assigned by the instructor during training to ensure that the students have become familiar with manufacturing techniques of different types of Leather Gloves/Garments.

INITIAL MAINTANENACE OF INDUSTRIAL MACHINES

Maintanance of Sewing machine, Adjustment of needle, Types of needle, Needle function, Adjustment of minor fault, Oiling and Cleaning, Shuttle adjustment, Required stitch length adjustment.
